In a small pot, combine apple and water and bring to a simmer over med-high heat.
Reduce heat to low and cook until apple is softened (about 8 minutes), stirring occasionally.
Add brown sugar, butter, lemon juice and salt and mix well.
Increase heat to med-high again and cook until thickened (about 1-2 minutes).
