Asian Chicken Wings (GF)

Serves approximately 10 as an appetizer

Ingredients: 
  • 3 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup dry sherry
  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 3 Tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • 1-2 stalks green onion, sliced

Instructions: 
  •  Move oven rack to top position and preheat oven to broil setting. 
  • Broil the wings for 10 minutes on each side (or until browned to your liking). 
  • Meanwhile, mix remaining ingredients except hoisin, lime juice, sesame seeds and green onions.  
  • Transfer the wings to a slow cooker.  Add mixed sauce and stir thoroughly. 
  • Cover and cook on low (5-6 hrs) or high (2-3 hrs). 
  • Stir 1 time in the middle of cooking and baste wings with the sauce.  
  • After cooking is completed, remove wings from the slow cooker and put on a serving platter.  Reserve 1/4 cup of the cooking liquid from the slow cooker. 
  • Combine the reserved slow cooker liquid with hoisin sauce and lime juice.  Drizzle over the wings. 
  • Sprinkle wings with toasted sesame seeds and green onions and serve immediately.
