Burdock

Arctium is a genus of biennial plants commonly known as burdock, family Asteraceae. Native to Europe and Asia, several species have been widely introduced worldwide.

Scientific Name:
  Arctium lappa
Parts Used:  Root, stalk, leaves and seeds

Cautions:  Use with caution if pregnant - large doses can stimulate the uterus.

Healing Properties
  • Alterative, blood purifier, tonic, anti inflammatory, diuretic, nutritive, detoxifying, restorative, prebiotic
  • Root is most effective, but leaves can be used as well.  
  • Mild laxative and diuretic. Helps remove toxins that can cause skin problems (such as eczema, acne, rashes, boils, etc). 
  • Can help with digestive sluggishness and arthritis pain. 
  • Soothes kidneys, lymphatic cleanser. 
  • Supports the liver, lymphatic glands and digestive system. 
  • Seeds can be used for feverish colds and late-onset diabetes.

How to Use:
