NATURAL/HERBAL
- Aloe Vera Gel (or pulp from an Aloe Vera plant). Apply to affected areas.
- Bilberry, butterbur, chickweed, comfrey, gotu kola, lavender, pot marigold, St. John's Wort, tea tree, white deadnettle, yarrow,
- Echinacea plant juice
- Jewelweed (sap from fresh plant)
- Bergamot poultice
- Cut a raw potato and place a slice on burn
- Powdered coffee beans mixed with water to make a paste
- St. John's Wort infused oil
- Creams containing Vitamin E, and/or calendula (should contain at least 2% calendula)
- Chamomile: use a strong tea: 2-3 teaspoons dried herb for each cup of hot water. Cool in freezer, and apply tea-soaked cloth to burn for 15 minutes.
- Apple cider vinegar, white vinegar and vanilla (mix in equal parts) applied on location immediately
- Make a dough with unsalted lard and flour to make a thick paste. Cover burn completely with paste and wrap it with cloth/gauze.
- Pure honey applied to affected area.
- Apply a lightly beaten egg white
- Chewed or crushed plantain leaves on affected area
- Make a salve with honey and comfrey tea powder . Cover burn completely with salve.
- Wet a black tea bag with cold water and place on the burn.
- Mix equal parts castor oil and cod liver oil. Soak a cotton ball with the mixture and place over burned area.
- Mix 1 cup whole milk with 4 cups water and add a few ice cubes. Soak a rag in the mixture and apply to burns for 15-20 minutes. Repeat every 2-4 hours.
- Yarrow Oil Infusion: Fill a jar with 3-4 ounces dried herb, or 4-5 ounces fresh herb. Cover with 1-2 cups carrier oil (something gentle like olive oil, jojoba oil, etc). Cap with a tight-fitting lid and put in a double boiler. Cover the boiler with a lid and bring to a simmer over low heat for 45 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool (overnight is okay). Strain into a clean, dry jar using cheesecloth (squeeze well to get as much of the oil out as possible). Apply oil directly to affected area.
- Vitamin E oil
- Antiseptic and pain relieving wound dressing: Combine Calendula, Yarrow and St John's wort tincture and apply directly to affected area
SUPPLEMENTS & HOMEOPATHIC
- Cantharis (homeopathic)
- Echinacea: 200 mg 3 times daily (should contain at least 3.5% echinacosides)
- Gotu Kola: 200 mg extract twice daily (should contain 10% asiaticosides)
- Vitamin A: 50, 000 IU daily for no more than 10 days (pregnant women should not exceed 5,000 IU daily)
- Vitamin C: 1,000 mg 3 times daily until healed (reduce if it causes diarrhea)
- Vitamin E: 400 IU daily until healed
- Zinc: 30 mg daily (do not exceed 150 mg zinc daily from all sources)
