Cappuccino Nog

Serves 8
Total Time: about 1 hour


Ingredients: 
  • 3 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • Dash Salt
  • 2 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup hot espresso (or regular) coffee
  • 1/2 cup Kahlua (or other coffee liqueur)
  • 1 cup whipping cream (heavy cream)
  • 1 Tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • Shaved chocolate or ground cinnamon for garnish

Instructions: 
  • Mix eggs, sugar and salt in heavy 2-quart saucepan. Gradually stir in milk. Cook over low heat 15-20 minutes, stirring constantly, just until mixture coats a metal spoon.
  • Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla.
  • Mix coffee and Kahlua. Gradually stir coffee mixture into custard mixture; keep warm.
  • Just before serving, beat whipping cream and brown sugar in chilled small bowl with electric mixture on high speed until stiff. Gently stir 1 cup of the whipped cream into custard mixture.
  • Pour into mugs. Top with dollops of remaining whipped cream. Sprinkle with shaved chocolate and/or cinnamon.
  • Serve immediately. Immediately refrigerate any remaining.
