Heat bacon grease or olive oil in large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and mushrooms and cook until tender (about 5-7 minutes).
Add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
Add all remaining ingredients except bacon and mix well (start with 1/4 cup broth and add more if needed). Cook, stirring frequently, until everything is warmed through (about 5 minutes).
Remove from heat and top with bacon crumbles. Serve immediately.
