Chinese Hot Dish

Servings: 4
Time: 2 hours

Ingredients: 
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 lb hamburger
  • 1/2 cup white rice, uncooked
  • 1 cup celery
  • 3 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 medium onion, minced
  • 1 can cream of celery soup
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 package (6oz) chow mein noodles (reserve 1/2 for topping)

Instructions: 
  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Heat olive oil in large skillet over med-high heat.
  • Add meat and onion and a sprinkle of salt and saute until meat is browned and onions are tender.
  • Bring 1 cup water to a boil and add rice and celery.  Cover, reduce heat to med-low and simmer for 15-20 minutes (or according to package directions).
  • Once meat and rice are done, add to all remaining ingredients and half of the chow mein noodles.  Mix well.
  • Transfer to a 9x13 baking pan or casserole dish and bake for 1 hour.
  • Sprinkle with remaining chow mein noodles and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
