Combine the chocolate and shortening and melt over med-low heat. Once melted, stir in the pecans.
Dip each caramel into chocolate mixture (with a spoon) to coat. Drop dipped caramels onto prepared baking sheet. Let candy cool until set.
Store in airtight container or plastic food-storage bag.
