Goldenrod is a genus of about 100 to 120 species of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae. Most are herbaceous perennial species found in open areas such as meadows, prairies, and savannas.

Scientific Name:  Solidago virgaurea
Parts Used:  Stem, leaves and flowers

Cautions:
  • Avoid if you are allergic to pollen.

Healing Properties
  • Astringent, anti-infective, aromatic, alterative, diuretic, detoxifying
  • Anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, diuretic
  • Used for flu, sore throat,  bronchitis, coughs, respiratory congestion, measles, malaria, kidney/bladder issues
  • Also used for flatulence, vomiting, headaches, arthritis, eczema and reduce heavy menstrual flow
  • Externally used for headaches, wounds and insect bites (crushed fresh leaves)
