DIETS: VT This versatile stuffing can be baked as a casserole (no bird needed); or used to fill a turkey /etc as desired. Servings: 8 (more than enough to fill a 12-lb turkey) Time: 75 minutes
Ingredients:
8 Tablespoons butter
1 1/2 cups onion, diced
2 cups celery, diced
1 12-15oz package seasoned bread stuffing cubes
1 teaspoon celery salt
3/4 teaspoon dried rosemary
3/4 teaspoon dried sage
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 1/4 cups hot turkey, chicken or veggie broth (plus 1/2 cup more if baking as a casserole without the bird)
Instructions:
Heat butter over medium heat until fully melted in large skillet.
Add onion and celery and cook (covered) until soft, stirring occasionally (about 15 minutes).
Transfer to a large bowl and add remaining ingredients (use only 1 1/4 cups broth in this step).
Mix well.
If stuffing a bird, use the stuffing immediately to fill cavities and bake according to bird directions.
If not stuffing a bird, spread in a greased 9x13" baking dish. Drizzle with remaining 1/2 cup hot broth.
Cover with aluminum foil and back at 350F for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10-15 minutes or until top is golden.
Serve immediately.
