Mustard

The mustard plant is any one of several plant species in the genera Brassica and Sinapis in the family Brassicaceae (the mustard family).

Scientific Name:  Brassica nigra
Parts Used:  Seeds 

Cautions:
  • Never apply pure powder or oil directly to skin (without diluting), as it may cause blisters/irritation. 
  • Large doses of whole seed can induce vomiting.

Healing Properties
  • Regulates cholesterol, heartbeat and blood sugar and reduces flatulence. 
  • Used externally to encourage blood flow, treat sprains, sore muscles and toothaches.
  • Also used to treat arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, chronic fatigue, congestion, constipation, fever, indigestion.
