1 1/2 Tablespoons butter, chilled and grated into small shavings
1 teaspoon orange zest (about 2 oranges)
1/3 cup dried cranberries
6 Tablespoons buttermilk
1 Tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon sugar
Preheat oven to 350F.
Combine flour, salt, baking soda, sugar and cream of tartar in medium bowl.
Add butter, orange zest and cranberries and mix well.
Add buttermilk just until moistened (do not overmix).
Sprinkle flour on work surface and turn dough onto floured surface. Knead 5 times and place on greased cookie sheet.
Shape into a 5" circle and cut into 4 wedges (cut into, but not entirely through bottom of dough).
Sprinkle with sugar.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
Serve immediately with softened butter.
