Meanwhile, preheat a large skillet to medium heat. Add oil and bacon strips and cook until bacon is almost done (crispy).
Add garlic and cook for about 1 minute longer.
Add tomatoes and cook for about 5-10 minutes. Mash occasionally with a potato masher to break up tomatoes into a thick sauce.
Add the cream and cook for about 2 minutes. Add the vodka and cook for another few minutes. Add salt & pepper to taste and keep warm until pasta is done cooking.
Add pasta to boiling water and cook according to package directions.
When pasta is done, drain (reserve a bit of pasta water in case the sauce needs to be thinned a little). Return pasta to the pot and mix in sauce mixture until well blended. Add in the cheese and mix again.
Serve immediately!
