Vitamin B Complex: 1 pill twice daily for flare-ups; then reduce to 1 pill each morning for maintenance; take with food (look for B-100 complex wtih 100 mcg vit B12 and biotin, 400 mcg folic acid, and 100 mg all other B vitamins).
PABA: 1,000 mg 3 times daily for flare-ups (take 1,000 mg twice daily for maintenance).
Licorice (DGL): chew 2 wafers (380 mg) 3 times daily between meals (for flare-ups; use deglycyrrhizinated- DGL form only).
Vitamin E: 400 IU twice daily for flare-ups or maintenance (check with doctor if taking anticoagulant drugs).
Vitamin A: 50,000 IU daily for flare-ups; reduce to 10,000 IU daily for maintenance (take only 5,000 IU daily if you are or may become pregnant).
Essential Fatty Acids: 1 Tablespoon (14 grams) flaxseed oil or 5,000 mg fish oils daily (use enteric-coated form of fish oils as maintenance).
Acidophilus: take 1 pill twice daily between meals (get 1-2 billion live organisms per pill).
Zinc/Copper: 30 mg zinc (add 2 mg copper daily if using zinc longer than 1 month).
