  • Arnica Ointment: apply to painful area 4 times daily (don't put on broken skin and NEVER ingest).
  • RICE: Rest injured part, Ice painful area, Compress with elastic support bandage and Elevate the injured area above heart (apply ice for 10-20 minutes, reapply every 2-3 hours for 1-2 days following the injury).  Once swelling subsides, use hot compress or heating pad.
  • Comfrey: apply cream, ointment or infused oil to injured area (don't put on broken skin).
  • Poultices: Crush a cabbage leaf with a vegetable mallet and wrap it around the injured limb, securing it with a loose bandage (fresh comfrey leaf, crushed daisies, or hot mashed potatoes can be used as well).
  • Turmeric (externally in a poultice/ointment).

  • ​Vitamin A: 25,000 IU twice daily for 5 days (pregnant women should not exceed 5,000 IU daily).
  • Vitamin C/Flavonoids: 1,000 mg vitamin C and 500 mg flavonoids 3 times daily (reduce if it causes diarrhea).
  • Glucosamine: 500 mg glucosamine sulfate 3 times daily (take with food).
  • Bromelain: 500 mg 3 times daily on empty stomach (should provide 6,000 GDU or 9,000 MCU daily).
  • Manganese: 100 mg daily for 7 days (helps heal ligaments, tendons and cartilage).
