Arnica Ointment: apply to painful area 4 times daily (don't put on broken skin and NEVER ingest).
RICE: Rest injured part, Ice painful area, Compress with elastic support bandage and Elevate the injured area above heart (apply ice for 10-20 minutes, reapply every 2-3 hours for 1-2 days following the injury). Once swelling subsides, use hot compress or heating pad.
Comfrey: apply cream, ointment or infused oil to injured area (don't put on broken skin).
Poultices: Crush a cabbage leaf with a vegetable mallet and wrap it around the injured limb, securing it with a loose bandage (fresh comfrey leaf, crushed daisies, or hot mashed potatoes can be used as well).
