Not all recipes are nutritionally perfect, but the options below are a great way to start incorporating beneficial foods into your diet in delicious ways. Always try to buy organic, and feel free to make substitutions to accommodate gluten-free, vegan, etc diets.
- Any fresh/raw fruits and/or vegetables
- Green superfoods: Blue-green algae, spirulina, chlorella, barley, wheat grass, alfalfa grass
FOODS TO AVOID OR MINIMIZE
- Alcohol, tobacco
ESSENTIAL OILS
- Place 1-2 drops peppermint oil on tongue
- Nutmeg, cardamom and/or peppermint oil on bottom of feet (or add a few drops to drinking water)
- Niaouli Oil: add 1-2 drops to 1/2 cup water and use as a gargle/mouthwash
- Add 1-2 drops orange essential oil to your toothpaste
- Anise, coriander, fennel, lavender, lemon, myrrh, peppermint, tea tree and/or thyme
- Try adding a couple of drops of the above oils to a spoonful of brandy or water and use it as a mouthwash or rub directly into gums/tongue
- Make a tea using chamomile, chickory, dandelion, myrrh, Oregon grape, and/or sage and use as a mouthwash (or drink the tea)
HERBAL
- Use toothpastes and mouthwashes containing cinnamon
- Peppermint tea or Sage Tea (or just chew the fresh leaves or rub them on tongue/teeth)
- Make an unsweetened herbal infusion with sage, thyme and/or rosemary and use as a mouthwash
- Laxative remedies with yellow dock, toadflax or dandelion
NATURAL
- Spirulina: rinse mouth with drink (or chew tablets)
- Chew fennel seeds after meals or as needed (anise seeds, dill seeds, coriander seeds or cloves can also be used)
- Chew on a fresh parsley sprig after meals or as needed. (especially helpful to remove onion or garlic smell from the breath)
