Infertility (in Women)
The inability to conceive children.

FOODS TO EAT MORE OF
  • Fruits: apricots, avocado, oranges, peaches, raspberries
  • Vegetables: arugula, asparagus, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, collard greens, kale, romaine lettuce, spinach, sweet potatoes, watercress
  • Almonds, adzuki beans, Brazil nuts, bulgur, kidney beans, sea herbs, seeds (especially flax, pumpkin, sesame & sunflower), soy products, wheat germ, yogurt

FOODS TO AVOID OR MINIMIZE
  • Refined flour, sugar & artificial food additives
  • Meat, dairy, coffee (including decaf), tea, alcohol, cranberries, plums, prunes, lentils, chickpeas, peanuts, walnuts

ESSENTIAL OILS 
  • Infertility in general: Anise, bergamot, clary sage, cypress, fennel, geranium, melissa, nutmeg, Roman chamomile, sage, thyme, yarrow, ylang ylang
  • Oils specific to female infertility: Clary sage,  coriander,  cypress, fennel, geranium, melissa, nutmeg, Roman chamomile, thyme, ​yarrow, ylang ylang
  • Apply to abdomen, hips, lower back, ankles, in vagina, and into the crease of the butt (but not as far as the anus).  Can also add to bath water or use as a general full-body massage oil. 
HERBAL
  • Chasteberry, dandelion leaf & root, evening primrose oil, red clover flower, red raspberry leaf, rosemary, stinging nettle

NATURAL
  • ​Yoga, meditation and/or tai chi
  • May be caused by a zinc deficiency - have your levels checked
  • May be caused by smoking - try to stop if you are a smoker

SUPPLEMENTS
  • Chasteberry/False Unicorn Root: 1/2 teaspoon tincture of each twice daily (do not use while menstruating, stop using as soon as you find out you are pregnant)
  • Essential Fatty Acids: 1,000 mg evening primrose oil 3 times daily;  1 Tablespoon (14 grams) flaxseed oil daily (or use 1,000 mg borage oil once daily for primrose oil)
  • Flaxseed oil: 1 Tablespoon (14 grams) daily (can be mixed with food; take in the morning)
  • PABA: 300mg-12g daily
  • Siberian Ginseng: 100-300 mg extract twice daily (do not use while menstruating, stop using as soon as you find out you are pregnant)
  • Vitamin B Complex: 1 pill each morning with food (look for B-50 complex with 50 mcg vitamin B12 and biotin; 400 mcg folic acid; and 50 mg all other B vitamins)
  • Vitamin B6: 50 mg daily (200 mg daily over long term may cause nerve damage)
  • Vitamin E: 100 IU twice daily (check with doctor if taking anticoagulant drugs)
  • Zinc/Copper: 30 mg zinc (add 2 mg copper daily if using zinc longer than 1 month)

FOOD MEDICINE 
Not all recipes are nutritionally perfect, but the options below are a great way to start incorporating beneficial foods into your diet in delicious ways. Always try to buy organic, and feel free to make substitutions to accommodate gluten-free, vegan, etc diets.
