Thyroid Issues - Hypothyroidism
Abnormally low activity of the thyroid gland. Symptoms include: fatigue, lethargy, memory problems, weight gain, constipation, intolerance to cold, dry hair and skin (especially on bottom of feet), goiter, heavy menstrual periods

FOODS TO EAT MORE OF
  • Fruits: Strawberries
  • Vegetables: sea veggies like kelp, dulse, wakame & nori, potatoes (with skin)
  • Dairy products (especially eggs with yolks and milk), iodized salt, freshwater fish, saltwater fish and shellfish
  • Arame & kelp (sea vegetables)

FOODS TO AVOID OR MINIMIZE
  • Raw cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, kale, cabbage and collard greens, turnips (they are okay if cooked however)

ESSENTIAL OILS 
  • Clove, myrtle, peppermint, spearmint, lemongrass (thyroid, big toes, bottom of feet, diffuse)

HERBAL
  • Ashwaganda, black walnut (in small doses), Thyme

NATURAL
  • For weight gain: avoid very low-calorie diets - focus instead on moderate daily exercise and small, frequent meals

YOGA / MEDITATION THERAPY
  •  Hormonal Balance Yin Yoga - Adrenal Fatigue & Thyroid Issues (32 minutes - Yoga with Kassandra)
  • Improve Thyroid Health (23 minutes - YOGATX)

SUPPLEMENTS
  • Forskolin: 50 mg twice daily (may lower blood pressure, don't use with prescription blood pressure drugs, should contain 18% forskolin). (if obesity, constipation, goiter and/or frequent headaches)
  • Kelp: 10 grains of powdered kelp daily (should supply 300 mcg iodine)
  • Tyrosine: 1,000 mg L-tyrosine daily (after 1 month, add a mixed amino acid complex)
  • Vitamin B Complex: 1 pill each morning (look for a B-100 complex with 100 mcg vitamin B12 and biotin, 400 mcg folic acid, and 100 mg all other B vitamins)
  • Vitamin C: 1,000 mg daily (reduce if it causes diarrhea)
  • Zinc/ Copper: 30 mg zinc (add 2 mg copper daily if using zinc longer than 1 month)

HOMEOPATHIC
  • Fucus vesiculous 1X, 6C, 30C
